lifeguard on Formby beach, Liverpool during August

Things to do in Liverpool in August

We’re now well into the summer holidays, and if you’re anything like us, you’re probably starting to hear those familiar words “What are we doing today?”

August is always a slightly different month for events. Many of the theatres take a well-earned summer break, so there are fewer big productions than usual. That does mean there’s much more happening outdoors, with festivals, family events and summer activities making the most of the school holidays.

Title image for Things to do in Liverpool in August featuring a female lifeguard on a quad bike on Formby beach on a summer day.

This month you can enjoy everything from Beach Fest at Liverpool ONE and Summer of Play at Speke Hall to the fantastic Serious Nonsense FestivalSalt & Tar FestivalInternational BeatleweekLiverpool Indoor Funfair and the ever-popular Southport Air Show

If you’re making the most of the sunshine, keep an eye out for my Sunflowers in the North West guide too. August is the perfect time to visit, and I’ll be linking it here as soon as it’s been updated.

As always, I’ll keep adding new events throughout the month as they’re announced, so it’s worth bookmarking this page and checking back regularly.
